Hiti Heritage Study being conducted by La: Tiki - Water Heritage Initiative

Hiti System form a complex system of ponds, underground canals Hiti Manga etc. Thus in order to be able to contribute to the preservation and restoration of these ancient Hiti system it is very important that we have knowledge about the geo-hydrological setting of the Kathmandu valley in relation to the Hiti system.

Similarly linkage to cultural aspects, legal aspects guarding these monuments (and water resources) need to be understood.

Apart from that how all the information need to be consolidated and organized in a way that the information is useable for all the stakeholders, policy makers, communities aspirant for restoration, stakeholders is important.

With this aim of coming up with the summary of information regarding regulations, geo-hydrological aspects of Hiti, technological appropriability which can help in future conservation works this initiative is working with WMF to come up with a study report. The target is to finalize the report by end of the year. At the beginning of next year we hope to choose site where it may be possible to make the Hiti useable.
